Hi there. You’ve found our blog.

We’re Lara and Zack, aka “Veggie” and “Square.” We met in sixth grade in Atlanta, Georgia, became high school sweethearts, and made it through four years of long-distance in college. In the last decade, we’ve worked on a farm, hiked the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine, gotten married, moved to Somerville, Massachusetts, hiked the Pacific Crest Trail from Mexico to Canada, and moved to Durham, North Carolina. Life is good, and we are grateful.

A few words about us, on our own:

VEGGIE (Lara) keeps busy and stays happy by teaching yoga and dance classes in Durham. She loves vegan cooking, writing, sunny days and scruffy dogs (most especially Ruby).

SQUARE (Zack) is no “square,” in spite of his name. He’s a current law student who loves running, gardening, and street art. He has eaten his weight in trail mix a few times over.
